Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kualitas tampilan visual training aids terhadap pembentukan mental picture area latihan pada taruna penerbang. Mental picture merupakan kemampuan kognitif penting dalam navigasi dan orientasi penerbangan, khususnya dalam tahap penerbangan solo area. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen kuantitatif dengan desain two-group pre-test-post-test. Sampel terdiri dari 16 taruna yang dibagi secara acak ke dalam dua kelompok, kelompok eksperimen menggunakan simulator dengan visual scenery akurat (Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020) dan kelompok kontrol menggunakan simulator dengan scenery kurang akurat (X-Plane 11). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan signifikan dalam pembentukan mental picture pada kelompok eksperimen dibandingkan kelompok kontrol. Uji paired t-test dan Mann-Whitney U mengonfirmasi bahwa akurasi dan detail tampilan visual simulator berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kemampuan taruna dalam memvisualisasikan area latihan. Temuan ini mendukung penggunaan software simulator berbasis scenery akurat sebagai media pembelajaran mandiri yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kesiapan taruna menghadapi penerbangan solo area.

This study aims to analyze the effect of visual display quality in training aids on the formation of mental picture of the training area among pilot cadets. Mental picture is a critical cognitive skill in navigation and situational awareness, especially during solo flight training stages. The research employed a quantitative experimental approach using a two-group pre-test-post-test design. Sixteen cadets were randomly assigned to two groups: the experimental group used a simulator with highly accurate visual scenery (Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020), while the control group used a simulator with less accurate scenery (X-Plane 11). The results indicated a significant improvement in the mental picture formation in the experimental group compared to the control group. Paired t-tests and Mann-Whitney U tests confirmed that the accuracy and detail of simulator visuals significantly influence cadets' ability to visualize and comprehend the training area. These findings support the integration of high-fidelity visual training aids as effective self-learning tools to enhance cadet readiness for solo flight evaluations.
