ANALISIS KAPASITAS KARGO TERHADAP KELANCARAN OPERASIONAL TERMINAL KARGO BANDAR UDARA KELAS I KALIMARAU – BERAU

Pertumbuhan sektor transportasi udara di Indonesia berdampak langsung
terhadap peningkatan volume distribusi barang melalui Bandara.. Bandar Udara
Kelas I Kalimarau Berau, Kalimantan Timur, merupakan salah satu simpul
penting dalam sistem logistik udara nasional. Namun, lonjakan volume kargo
tahunan telah menimbulkan tantangan terhadap kelancaran operasional terminal
kargo, khususnya saat periode sibuk (peak hour). Penelitian ini menggunakan
pendekatan Mix method dengan menggabungkan metode kualitatif dan
kuantitatif. Bertujuan: (1) untuk menganalisis kesesuaian kapasitas terminal
kargo di Bandar Udara Kalimarau dengan kebutuhan aktual berdasarkan standar
regulasi; (2) memproyeksikan pertumbuhan volume kargo dan mengevaluasi
kemampuan terminal dalam mengakomodasi beban logistik ke depan; serta (3)
menilai implementasi Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP) pada saat jam sibuk .
Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara,
dokumentasi, serta analisi data historis volume kargo. Data kuantitatif dianalisis
menggunakan metode regresi linear dan forecasting untuk memproyeksikan
kebutuhan kapasitas terminal di masa mendatang. Hasil penelitian menunjukan
bahwa kapasitas eksiting terminal kargo seluas 592 m² belum mampu memenuhi
kebutuhan ideal seluas 1.875 m² berdasarkan proyeksi volume kargo tahunan.
Selain itu, penempatan Baggage cart di dalam gudang turut mempersempit ruang
penyimpanan dan menghambat alur logistik. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya
strategis berupa perluasan area, penyusunan SOP baru yang aplikatif, serta
penerapan sistem logistik berbasis teknologi untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan
keselamatan distribusi kargo udara.The growth of air transportation in Indonesia has directly impacted the
increasing volume of cargo distribution through airports. Kalimarau Airport,
located in Berau, East Kalimantan, plays strategic role in supporting the
regional and national logistics chain. However, the increasing annual volume of
cargo has created operational challenges, especially during peak hour. This
study employs a mix method approach, combining both qualitative and
quantitative methods.The objectives of this research are to: (1) analyze the
compatibility between the existing cargo terminal capacity and the current
operational needs based on regulatory standards; (2) project future cargo
volume and evaluate the terminal’s ability to accommodate the growing logistics
load; and (3) assess the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures
(SOP) during peak-hour operations. Data collection techniques utilizing direct
observation, interviews, documentation and analysis of historical cargo volume
data. Quantitative data were analyzed using linear regression and forecasting
methods to project future terminal capacity requirements. The findings reveal
that the existing cargo terminal space of 592 m² is insufficient compared to the
ideal requirement of 1,875 m², as calculated based on annual cargo volume.
Additionally, inefficient space usage, such as the storage of baggage carts within
the warehouse area, has further disrupted cargo handling processes. Therefore,
this research recommends strategic measures including the expansion of
terminal space. Revision of standard operating procedures (SOP), and the
adoption of modern logistics systems and technologies to improve cargo flow
efficiency and maintain operational safety standards
