Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kondisi visibility terhadapperforma ground reference maneuver taruna penerbang di flight simulatorPoliteknik Penerbangan Indonesia Curug. Latar belakang penelitian berangkat daripentingnya aspek meteorologi, khususnya jarak pandang, dalam penerbanganvisual (VFR) yang memengaruhi pengambilan keputusan dan ketepatan maneuver.Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif dengan variabelbebas visibility (X) dan variabel terikat performa maneuver (Y), diukur pada skala1–10. Sampel penelitian adalah taruna tahap pre-CPL yang menjalani flighttraining menggunakan Flight Training Device Redbird MCX Level 4. Uji validitasdilakukan dengan metode CVR dan reliabilitas dengan ICC, keduanyamenunjukkan hasil sangat baik. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas,linearitas, heteroskedastisitas, korelasi Pearson, uji t, regresi linier sederhana, dankoefisien determinasi. Hasil menunjukkan hubungan positif antara visibility danperforma, dengan persamaan regresi Y = 3,794 + 0,383X. Meskipun koefisienkorelasi (r=0,376) tergolong moderat dan nilai signifikansi 0,151 (>0,05), arahhubungan bersifat positif, menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan visibility cenderungdiikuti peningkatan performa maneuver. Koefisien determinasi sebesar 14,2%menunjukkan kontribusi visibility terhadap performa, sementara faktor lainberperan lebih besar. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya pengendalian variabelmeteorologis dalam pelatihan penerbang demi menjaga keselamatan danefektivitas pelatihan.

This study aims to analyze the effect of visibility conditions on the ground
reference maneuver performance of student pilots at the Indonesia Civil Aviation
Polytechnic Curug flight simulator. The research is motivated by the importance of
meteorological factors—particularly visibility—in visual flight rules (VFR), which
influence decision-making accuracy and maneuver precision. A quantitative
descriptive approach was employed, with visibility (X) as the independent variable
and maneuver performance (Y) as the dependent variable, measured on a 1–10
scale. The sample consisted of pre-CPL stage student pilots undergoing flight
training using a Redbird MCX Level 4 Flight Training Device. Content validity
was tested using the CVR method and reliability using ICC, both yielding excellent
results. Data analysis involved normality, linearity, and heteroscedasticity tests,
Pearson correlation, t-test, simple linear regression, and coefficient of
determination. Results showed a positive relationship between visibility and
performance, with the regression equation Y = 3.794 + 0.383X. Although the
correlation coefficient (r = 0.376) was moderate and the significance value was
0.151 (>0.05), the positive relationship indicates that increased visibility tends to
improve maneuver performance. The coefficient of determination of 14.2%
indicates that visibility contributes to performance, while other factors account for
the remaining variance. This study highlights the importance of controlling
meteorological variables in pilot training to ensure both safety and training
effectiveness.
