Abstract

Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) merupakan bandar udara modern yang memiliki potensi strategis dalam mendukung pertumbuhan ekonomi wilayah Yogyakarta. Namun, terdapat area-area di lingkungan bandara, seperti Tugu Malioboro, yang belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi pemanfaatan ruang tersebut melalui penyelenggaraan event sebagai strategi peningkatan pendapatan non-aeronautical dan mendorong kolaborasi dengan UMKM lokal serta penguatan citra bandara sebagai ruang publik yang dinamis dan produktif
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif, melalui observasi langsung di area Tugu Malioboro YIA dan gedung penghubung, wawancara dengan unit komersial bandar udara, serta studi literatur terkait optimalisasi ruang komersial bandar udara. Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan Value Proposition Canvas untuk memetakan kebutuhan pengguna jasa dan merumuskan strategi penyelenggaraan bagi bandar udara yang sesuai dengan karakteristik lokal serta potensi komersial ruang yang tersedia.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa area Tugu Malioboro memiliki nilai strategis tinggi dalam hal lokasi, aksesibilitas, dan fleksibilitas fungsi ruang. Penyelenggaraan event seperti YIA Gate Festival yang melibatkan UMKM lokal, musik budaya, serta promosi produk unggulan daerah terbukti mampu meningkatkan interaksi pengunjung dan potensi transaksi ekonomi di lingkungan bandar udara. Strategi penyesuaian tarif sewa berdasarkan UMR lokal, tata letak tenant yang efisien, serta aktivasi fasilitas pendukung seperti travelator dan signage turut memperkuat daya tarik area sebagai zona event dan ekonomi kreatif.
Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa penyelenggaraan event di kawasan Tugu Malioboro YIA merupakan pendekatan efektif dalam meningkatkan pendapatan non-aeronautical sekaligus memberdayakan ekonomi lokal. Optimalisasi ruang publik dengan pendekatan bisnis yang adaptif dan kolaboratif menjadi strategi yang relevan untuk pengelolaan bandar udara berorientasi masa depan.

Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) is a modern airport with strategic potential to support economic growth in the Yogyakarta region. However, there are areas in the airport environment, such as Tugu Malioboro, that have not been optimally utilized. This study aims to identify the potential for utilizing these spaces through the organization of events as a strategy to increase non-aeronautical revenue, promote collaboration with local SMEs, and strengthen the airport's image as a dynamic and productive public space.
The research method used was a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, through direct observation in the Malioboro YIA Monument area and the connecting building, interviews with airport commercial units, and a literature study related to the optimization of airport commercial space. Analysis was conducted using the Value Proposition Canvas to map user needs and formulate operational strategies for the airport that align with local characteristics and the commercial potential of available space.

The research findings indicate that the Tugu Malioboro area holds high strategic value in terms of location, accessibility, and functional flexibility of space. The organization of events such as the YIA Gate Festival, which involves local MSMEs, cultural music, and the promotion of regional products, has proven to increase visitor interaction and economic transaction potential in the airport environment. Strategies such as adjusting rental rates based on the local minimum wage, efficient tenant layout, and activating supporting facilities such as travelators and signage further strengthen the area's appeal as an event and creative economy zone.

The conclusion of this study is that holding events in the Tugu Malioboro YIA area is an effective approach to increasing non-aeronautical revenue while empowering the local economy. Optimizing public spaces with an adaptive and collaborative business approach is a relevant strategy for future oriented airport management.
