Abstract

Fatigue didefinisikan sebagai kelelahan akibat beban kerja melebihi kapasitas
harian, yang pada taruna penerbang disebabkan oleh kurang tidur berulang.
Penerbangan solo menurut CASR Part 61 adalah penerbangan dimana taruna
bertindak sebagai Pilot In Command tunggal. Penelitian mengacu pada jadwal
ketarunaan yang padat, dengan waktu tidur hanya 6,5 jam/hari - di bawah
rekomendasi 7-9 jam untuk dewasa, berpotensi menyebabkan fatigue kronis dan
penurunan fungsi kognitif. Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh fatigue terhadap
situational awareness (SA) taruna di PPI Curug dan dampaknya terhadap
keselamatan solo flight. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan Chalder
Fatigue Scale (CFQ11) dan Situation Awareness Global Assessment Technique
(SAGAT) untuk menilai tiga level SA. Hasil menunjukkan skor SA rata-rata di
bawah standar: Level 1 (51%), Level 2 (39%), dan Level 3 (39%). Analisis regresi
linier membuktikan pengaruh signifikan fatigue terhadap SA (β=-1.038, p<0.001),
dimana setiap kenaikan 1 poin fatigue menurunkan SA 1.038 poin. Temuan ini
menekankan pentingnya sinkronisasi Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS)
antara program studi dan asrama, serta penerapan IMSAFE checklist sebelum solo
flight. Penelitian ini membuktikan fatigue berpengaruh negatif terhadap SA taruna
penerbang di PPI Curug.

Fatigue is defined as exhaustion caused by workload exceeding daily capacity,
which among flight cadets results from chronic sleep deprivation. According to
CASR Part 61, solo flight refers to operations where cadets act as sole Pilot in
Command. This study examines the impact of demanding cadet schedules that
provide only 6.5 hours of daily sleep - below the recommended 7-9 hours for adults - potentially leading to chronic fatigue and cognitive impairment. The research
analyzes fatigue's effect on situational awareness (SA) among cadets at Indonesia
Aviation Polytechnic Curug (PPI Curug) and its implications for solo flight safety.
Using a quantitative approach, fatigue levels were measured with the Chalder
Fatigue Scale (CFQ11), while SA was assessed through the Situation Awareness
Global Assessment Technique (SAGAT) across three levels: perception,
comprehension, and projection. Results revealed substandard SA scores: Level 1
(51%), Level 2 (39%), and Level 3 (39%). Linear regression analysis demonstrated
significant fatigue impact on SA (β=-1.038, p<0.001), indicating each 1-point
fatigue increase reduces SA by 1.038 points. These findings emphasize the need for
synchronized Fatigue Risk Management Systems (FRMS) between academic
programs and dormitories, along with pre-flight IMSAFE checklist
implementation. The study conclusively proves fatigue's negative effect on cadets'
SA at PPI Curug.
