ANALISIS KEBUTUHAN WATER SPRINKLER UNTUK MENINGKATKAN EFEKTIVITAS PENCEGAHAN KEBAKARAN DI BANGUNAN ASRAMA TOWER POLITEKNIK PENERBANGAN INDONESIA CURUG

Kebakaran merupakan salah satu bencana yang dapat menimbulkan kerugian
besar, baik kerusakan material maupun ancaman keselamatan jiwa, terutama pada
bangunan bertingkat seperti asrama. Asrama Tower Politeknik Penerbangan Indonesia
Curug saat ini belum dilengkapi sistem proteksi kebakaran aktif berupa water
sprinkler, yang seharusnya wajib dipasang sesuai ketentuan Peraturan Menteri
Pekerjaan Umum Nomor 26 Tahun 2008. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis
kebutuhan sistem water sprinkler guna meningkatkan efektivitas pencegahan
kebakaran di bangunan tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif
deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan
dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keberadaan water sprinkler sangat
penting untuk merespons kebakaran secara otomatis pada tahap awal, sehingga dapat
mengendalikan penyebaran api, meminimalisir korban jiwa, kerusakan bangunan, serta
memberikan waktu tambahan bagi penghuni untuk melakukan evakuasi. Selain itu,
water sprinkler juga berfungsi memenuhi standar keselamatan gedung bertingkat. Oleh
karena itu, instalasi sistem ini direkomendasikan sebagai prioritas dalam upaya
peningkatan sistem proteksi kebakaran di lingkungan Asrama Tower PPIC.

Fire is a disaster that can cause significant losses, both material damage and
threats to human safety, especially in multi-story buildings such as dormitories. The
Tower Dormitory of the Indonesian Aviation Polytechnic Curug is currently not
equipped with an active fire protection system in the form of water sprinklers, which
should be installed according to the provisions of the Minister of Public Works
Regulation Number 26 of 2008. This study aims to analyze the need for a water
sprinkler system to improve the effectiveness of fire prevention in the building. The
research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the
form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate
that the presence of water sprinklers is very important to respond to fires automatically
at an early stage, so that it can control the spread of fire, minimize casualties, building
damage, and provide additional time for occupants to evacuate. In addition, water
sprinklers also function to meet the safety standards of multi-story buildings.
Therefore, the installation of this system is recommended as a priority in efforts to
improve the fire protection system in the PPIC Tower Dormitory environment.
