Abstract

The advancement of electric vehicle (EV) technology presents new challenges in emergency response at airports, particularly for Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) personnel. This study aims to evaluate the strategies employed in Electric Vehicle Accident Rescue (EVAR) operations and to assess the readiness and effectiveness of ARFF personnel in handling incidents involving electric vehicles at Radin Inten II Airport. The research methods used include observation, interviews, and document analysis related to existing procedures, training programs, and available facilities.
The findings indicate that there is currently no specific Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for handling electric vehicle accidents. Additionally, ARFF personnel have not received specialized training or equipment to address the unique risks of electric vehicles, such as thermal runaway and the potential for fire re-ignition. This study recommends the development of EVAR-specific SOPs, the provision of specialized protective gear and extinguishing equipment, and regular training sessions to enhance preparedness. With the proper implementation of these strategies, EV-related incidents at airports can be managed swiftly, safely, and efficiently.
