Abstract

// Electrical panels serve as the central distribution point for electrical power and are at risk of fire due to short circuits, overloads, loose cable connections, or component failure. Currently, commonly used protection systems are limited to cutting off the electrical current and are not yet capable of early detection or automatic fire suppression. This study aims to design and build a Modular Fire Protection System for electrical panels based on the Internet of Things (IoT), featuring automatic power disconnection and fire suppression capabilities to enhance the safety and reliability of the electrical panel protection system. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) Level 3 according to Sugiyono, consisting of eight stages. The system was designed using an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with an MQ-2 sensor for smoke detection, a Flame sensor for fire detection, relays and contactors to cut off the electrical current, an MG996R servo motor to activate the CO₂ fire extinguisher, a buzzer as an alarm, an LCD display for information, and the Blynk app for real-time monitoring and notifications. Test results show that the MQ-2 and Flame sensors are capable of detecting smoke and fire at distances of up to 80 cm. The system successfully activated the alarm, cut off the power supply, activated the CO₂ fire extinguisher to automatically extinguish the fire, and sent real-time notifications via the Blynk app. Thus, the designed prototype is capable of integrating the functions of early detection, power disconnection, and fire suppression.
