Abstract

The Doppler VHF Omnidirectional Range (DVOR) is one of the crucial air navigation devices that provides accurate directional information to aircraft. To ensure the reliability and accuracy of this device, periodic testing through ground check are required. However, variations in the implementation of DVOR ground check procedures have been observed in the field. These procedural differences are because there is no exact regulation about the ground check procedure. Therefore, innovation in ground check implementation is needed to improve measurement efficiency and accuracy.
This study aims to design a concept for conducting DVOR ground checks using DRONEs, which is expected to overcome the limitations of conventional methods. DRONEs offer flexibility and the ability to reach measurement points more effectively, enabling more comprehensive and accurate data collection. This research adopts the ADDIE method (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), which provides a structured approach to concept development.
The expected outcome of this study is the creation of a DRONE-based DVOR ground check concept that is more effective and efficient than conventional methods. This design is anticipated to make the general procedure in the field, enhance measurement accuracy, and accelerate the testing process.
