Abstract

This research presents the design of a Runway Threshold Identification Light (RTIL) installation for Runway 08 at Ngloram Airport as an alternative visual approach aid to improve runway threshold identification. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) Level 1 method, including existing condition analysis, field surveys, interviews, literature review, and the preparation of a Detail Engineering Design (DED) based on ICAO Annex 14 Volume I and the Director General of Civil Aviation Regulation PR 21 of 2023. The results indicate that (1) the RTIL is designed to be installed symmetrically with the runway centerline and positioned 10 meters outside the runway edge lights, (2) the electrical distribution system uses a 3 × 10 mm² NYFGbY cable with a total length of 1,383 meters and a 1.13% voltage drop, (3) the system is protected by a 4 A Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB), and (4) the RTIL foundation is designed using reinforced concrete with dimensions of 60 × 72 × 50 cm. The final design is presented in the form of a Detail Engineering Design (DED), supported by the Technical Specifications and the Bill of Quantity (BOQ), which can serve as a technical reference for the implementation of RTIL installation at Ngloram Airport.
